About this event
The current political environment is leaving voters feeling angry and paralyzed. The solution is to do something! Democracy is built on the active participation of its citizens. Every voice matters—change happens when we engage, organize, and demand that elected officials work for the people, not themselves. Special Guest speaker Renée James Gilmore, host of Empowering Voices on WWSB, ABC Channel 7, implores us to "DO SOMETHING!"
The League of Women Voters of Sarasota County will also present their first-ever Distinguished Public Service Award to Barbara Ford-Coates, who served as the Sarasota County Tax Collector from 1984-2024. This award honors local leaders who exemplify professionalism, integrity, and outstanding service to our community.
To avoid confusion, follow these directions to the event:
Use Central Sarasota Parkway and turn onto Stoneybrook Blvd.
DO NOT USE the McIntosh Road entrance!
At gatehouse, stay to the right and DO NOT STOP at kiosk.
The rising arm barrier gate is to the right and just ahead. It will open as you approach.
