Gail Karp, MS, OTR/L has assumed the position of LWV SRQ Education Chair. Gail will be mentored by VP Kitty Galica and former Education Chair Millie Headdy.
Gail has always had a passion for working with children. Prior to retirement, she had a diverse career as an occupational therapist. As an occupational therapist, she had professional leadership roles and created programs in Monroe County outpatient mental health, Sarasota memorial hospital in patient psychiatry and pediatrics, Easter Seals Happiness House, Manatee County Schools and Sarasota County Schools. Since retirement, she has volunteered at Selby gardens in the children’s program.
Gail joined the league in the Fall of 2018, volunteering with the hospitality committee. In 2019 she attended lobby days in Tallahassee and the LWV Naples bicentennial convention. Married to Dr. David Karp, as a blended family, they raised three children together. They are blessed with three beautiful grandchildren. Gail enjoys an active life of playing with grandchildren, golf, bike trips, traveling, yoga, snorkeling, boating, and beach with friends. She looks forward to learning more about the LWV with focus on education for all our children.
