The United Nations International Universal Health Coverage Day is celebrated with hundreds of events across the U.S.A. and around the globe. The League of Women Voters of Manatee County Health Care Action Team is celebrating with an in-person program featuring speakers, refreshments, prizes, and a great opportunity to socialize!

Topics are:

  • Using a Healthcare Navigator
Find out what the healthcare marketplace is and how a Healthcare Navigator can help you.  An experienced navigator will talk about the process, what works, and what the problems are in the system.  Can everyone get quality, affordable health insurance coverage in the federal marketplace? Get the answers you and your family need!
  • Emergency Medical Services
Learn how EMS of Manatee County is organized, what services they provide, and what are some of their biggest challenges. Learn when and when not to call emergency medical services, and much more.

  • Brain Health Initiative (BHI)
Discover the opportunities and barriers of integrating the science and application of lifestyle as medicine at the individual, family, and community level, for all ages.  BHI is bridging the gap between life span and brain span while increasing performance for all ages.
  • Mental Health First Aid
Realize the ways a focus on mental health prevention and building resilience will enable individuals and our government to spend far less on costly interventions and will better enable us to meet the needs of the community. Mental Health First Aid is a skills-based training course that teaches participants about mental health and substance-use issues.
