Our presenter, Joseph Bonasia is a retired teacher who currently serves as Chair for Florida Rights of Nature Network and Operations and Communications Director for FloridaRightToCleanWater.org. Until recently, he also served as Citizens’ Climate Lobby’s volunteer liaison to Senator Rick Scott’s office. He writes about constitutional environmental rights, climate change, and rights of nature.
Joe will explain why Florida needs a constitutional right to clean water by showing the failure of our current regulatory system. He will discuss the purpose of the proposed “Right to Clean and Healthy Waters” amendment, explain with concrete examples how it can fix the system, and share how the LWVFL can help qualify the RightToCleanWater amendment for the 2026 state ballot.
