Andrea Blanch, PhD, is a psychologist with expertise in mental health, trauma-informed approaches, and systems change. She worked for two decades in senior administrative positions in state mental health departments in Vermont, New York, and Maine, and served as senior advisor to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) on the development of their trauma portfolio. Dr. Blanch was active in second wave feminism and the disability rights movement, and has published numerous articles, book reviews, and book chapters on women’s mental health, empowerment, social change, and trauma-informed approaches. She was a 2009 Fellow in the Women, Religion and Globalization program at Yale
University. Dr. Blanch currently chairs the Sarasota County Behavioral Health Advisory Council. She founded and directed the Center for Religious Tolerance, a non-profit that supports interfaith peace work and women’s empowerment in conflict zones, and is also a founding member of Sarasota Strong, a local trauma-informed community initiative.
